Scouts from both Arsenal and Manchester United have headed to Brazil to take a look at 16-year-old wonderkid Yuri Alberto from Santos who is already valued at around £37.5m.
The young striker has caught the attention of both clubs during his blistering outing for Brazil at the Under 17 World Cup, and representatives have been in contact with Yuri’s agent and could bid for him in the next transfer window come January.
A new report in The Sun claims:
“He is the new star of Brazilian football. He is very exciting and a lot of teams are looking at him. United and Arsenal are very keen on Yuri. They watched him when Brazil played in England earlier this year. He has great technique and an eye for goal. The reports across the board have been positive about him. His agent has been contacted and told by both the Premier League clubs they will be watching him over the coming months.”
Landing the player won’t be easy though, with United, the two Milan clubs, Roma and lots of Spanish clubs also interested in signing him.
Santos see him as the next big player from their club to make a move to Europe after Neymar move to Barcelona in 2013, and his stats don’t lie, at youth level he scored 51 goals in 35 games last season, something even Nicklas Bendtner probably didn’t manage at his peak.
