If Manchester United are really interested in buying Arsenal playmaker, Mesut Ozil next summer, they could entertain a sale of Juan Mata to just accommodate the German according to journalist, James Robson.

Recent reports have linked Ozil to a move to the Red Devils and looking at the player’s current situation at Arsenal with just a year left on his contract and having worked with Mourinho for three years at Real Madrid, these fresh links might be finally worth taking seriously.

With no sign of any contract extension likely between the Gunners and Ozil, a move could certainly be on the cards, but there needs to be a sacrifice for the move to happen according to Manchester Evening News journalist Robson who said:

“I can’t believe Mourinho actually ever got on with him at Real Madrid, but he was highly thought of,” Robson told the Manchester Evening News podcast via Sportreview.

“For the majority of his time, he’s been one of the few genuinely world-class players around the Premier League. If he’s free that changes everything, maybe you could sell Juan Mata. I don’t see how you could have Mata, Mkhitaryan and Ozil in the same team. He’s sold Mata once before so maybe if he got Ozil, he’d sell him again…”

Both Mata and Ozil will hope to make more impact at their respective clubs as the season progresses after both having started pretty slowly.
