Arsenal’s 18-year-old midfielder, Marcus McGuane is currently in talks with the club about a long term contract according to a report coming from TMW.

With just one year left on his current deal, this move is designed to deter any interest in the player from Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus who are said to be sniffing around the youngster. McGuane is out of contract next summer, but Arsenal are keen to tie down the player and fend off any offers from elsewhere.

The England Under 19 player who hails from Ireland has come through the Arsenal ranks, and recently made his senior debut in the 4-2 win against BATE Borisov in the win in the Europa league a couple of weeks ago. He also plays regularly for the U18s and as captain, scored twice recently for the U23 side against Everton.

Previously known as Marcus Agyei-Tabi, the defensive midfielder’s versatility was on display in the Europa game when he played as a right wing back, McGuane can also play as a centre back.

Arsene Wenger has shown faith with youngsters this season already in the Europa League and Carabao Cup and if this continues, McGuane will be hoping to get more playing time with the first team, with Wenger obviously a big fan already.
