Alexander Hleb has told The Independent that he wants Alexis Sanchez to stay at Arsenal and snub the apparent interest from Man City. Hleb, who left Arsenal for Barcelona was speaking at our Europa League game against his old side BATE Borisov in the week where we ran out 4-2 winners and had lots of good things to say about his old club Arsenal.

Sanchez was reportedly on the brink of a move to Man City in the final throes of the transfer window but the deal fell through despite the late (and paltry) £60m bid.

It’s thought that Pep could come back in for Sanchez in the January window but Hleb wants the Chilean to stay put and sign a new deal at The Emirates.

Hleb said:

“I think he will wait until the winter, see how the team are playing and maybe sign a new contract. Why not stay at Arsenal? It’s a great club with huge tradition, great fans and Arsene Wenger as the manager. They can achieve things…”

Mesut Ozil is in the same situation as Sanchez and currently they both look unlikely to extend their stay. Arsene Wenger confirmed the German will miss our clash with Brighton tomorrow with a knee injury.
