Following our impressive draw at Chelsea, German defender Shkodran Mustafi is urging Arsenal to use the derby as a kick start for an assault on the Premier League title this season.
Wenger claimed his first Premier League point from Stamford Bridge since 2011 and our first away point of the season thanks to the stalemate at The Bridge.
We could have won the game if Aaron Ramsey has scored instead hitting the post, Lacazette missing an easy rebound. This was all before Chelsea man David Luiz was shown a straight red for a bad foul on Sead Kolasinac and Danny Welbeck picked up a groin injury which will see him miss the next four weeks of action. Despite ending in a goalless draw, Wenger’s team have been drawing the plaudits after a resolute defensive display and some fluid attacking football like we’re used to seeing under the Frenchman.
Mustafi, who had a header disallowed wants his team to build on their performance, and said on the Arsenal official website via The Daily Mail that:
‘We are a team that are willing to learn, I think that we have to try and build from something and I think we can build from this performance because we were really well organized when we didn’t have the ball. When we had the ball, we played some brilliant one-touch football. We played against the Champions of last season and if you play like this, I think you’ll get a lot of points. We can build from that. I love playing in the Premier League because you can see that everyone is going to try and win, try and perform, I think in the end, even though we didn’t get the three points, we performed and now we can go with that into the next game.’
Arsenal will be hosting a match against League One side Doncaster Rovers in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night and will be hoping our youngsters will be able to see us through to the next round. Team news tomorrow as we get it.
