According to reports Danny Welbeck will be out for around four weeks with the groin injury he picked up during our 0-0 draw with Chelsea at the weekend.
He pulled up on 73 minutes holding his groin, and was subbed for Olivier Giroud and went off clapping the Arsenal fans, and holding his groin at the same time – no mean feat.
After the Chelsea game AW said:
“He has a groin problem, I don’t know how severe it is but it looks like a ‘good’ groin problem, not an easy one…”
He had scans at the beginning of the week and the Daily Telegraph reckon he will be out for four weeks with the injury, a real shame as it looked like he’d cemented his starting place this season.
The striker had scored 3 goals in just 5 Premier League games already this season, and was having a good game at Chelsea. Time for someone else to step up, guessing getting Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil back into the side will just have to do.
We are back in action this week with a Carabao Cup game at home to Doncaster Rovers where AW will be looking to experiment with some of the young stars of tomorrow (YSoT) and fringe players, a game Welbeck would have probably sat out anyway.
