Reports in this week’s papers claim that Real Madrid star Karim Benzema is set to quit Real Madrid and is reportedly keen to move to the Premier League to join Arsenal.

The 29-year-old striker has previously been linked with a move to The Emirates stadium with Arsene Wenger apparently interested in signing the striker way back before he joined Madrid back in 2009.

However, despite numerous transfer rumours, the French striker has always ended up staying at the Bernabeu and developed a reputation for himself as one of the best strikers in the world in the past eight years, scoring an incredible 182 goals and providing 104 assists in his 371 appearances for the Spanish club.

However, the Frenchman’s place at Madrid is under increasing pressure, and he scored just 11 La Liga goals in 29 appearances last season and he is  yet to play for the La Liga Champions at all this season. Zinedine Zidane’s side have started La liga poorly this term and Benzema picked up a hamstring injury last weekend and will be out for a few weeks (sounds like he’ll fit right in at Arsenal then).

The report from The Daily Express also claims that Benzema has become increasingly frustrated in Spain and he is ready to leave Madrid for Arsenal, although it’s not certain if he will move in January or will wait till next summer but these fresh rumours are certain to alert Arsene Wenger’s interest once again.

The Gunners spent £50 million in bringing Alexandre Lacazette to The Emirates over the summer, with the in-form Danny Welbeck and golden-boy Olivier Giroud also fighting for a place up front.

Benzema joined Real Madrid from Lyon in the summer window of 2009-10 season and despite some off-the field problems, he has helped the La Liga giant lift the Champions three times and the league title twice.
