We were drawn at home to face Doncaster Rovers of League One in the third round of the newly titled Carabao Cup, which replaces the EFL Trophy, Coca Cola Cup, Rumbelows, Milk, Worthington and various other sponsorships of the League Cup.

The draw was inexplicably made in China at 11:30am their time, in an apparent bid to encourage more Asian fans to tune in to the competition. However, the draw wasn’t televised as the previous two draws had been disastrous. Ok then, what a great bunch of lads.

Manchester United will begin their defence of this illustrious/Mickey Mouse* trophy against Burton Albion, while Man City visit West Brom, Liverpool visit Leicester, Everton play Sunderland while Chelsea play Nottingham Forest at home.

*delete as appropriate after the final, United fans.

Has the league gone already?

Arsene Wenger revealed at his pre-Liverpool press conference that we will continue to use our youngsters in the competition, he said:

We want to do well in the League Cup, it is a good opportunity to give the young players a chance and we have some good young players who have done well in training. The League Cup will continue to offer that.

These ties should be played on the week of September 18th, either Tuesday or Wednesday and you can see the full draw here.
