Earlier this week, Arsene Wenger sent defender Cohen Bramall out on loan to Birmingham City as he looks to clear some wages from the books. Youngster Bramall, along with team mate Carl Jenkinson have been deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates Stadium, for now now at least.
Bramall has impressed the Gunners since joining from non-league side Hednesford Town in January, and he also featured on their pre-season tour of Asia and Australia and was given a first-team squad number for the upcoming season.
Bramall already played for his new side Birmingham as they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, being subbed in the 78th minute during the 2-1 home defeat by Bournemouth.
Reports claim that Arsenal feel Bramall would benefit by going out on loan if he hopes to play as a regular first-team player at the Emirates. The Gunners are known to be well stocked in the left-back department, with Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolasinac ahead of the youngster in the pecking order meaning his chances would be limited.
Bramall told the Birmingham Mail that despite his notable debut for Arsenal in their pre-season Australian tour, it’s time for him to start working harder:
“It was a dream come true and I’ll never forget it but the dream’s over now. This is it and I’m playing men’s football in a massive league and there’s no messing now, I’ve got to get my head down and work hard. I don’t pinch myself anymore. I said to everyone that when I make my first team debut at Arsenal it will stop then. I couldn’t believe it when I signed and it was the best thing that ever happened, but I said to myself that when I make my first team debut you know it’s hit you then and I need to get on with it. I think everyone needs to forget about me being some kid who came from non-league, I’m in the game now and I need to take it seriously…”
