Following a miserable start to the season, a report in the Evening Standard, Lucas Perez will rejoin Deportivo La Coruna in a £14m deal this week to end his Arsenal nightmare as the summer exodus continues.
La Coruna have tried everything to get the player back, a player they only sold to us for £17m this time last year including trying to get him back on loan to try to save funds. It’s thought they have had two bids refused, and the two clubs are still at loggerheads about his value but with Arsene Wenger keen to cut down the squad, it’s thought a deal could be imminent.
Newly promoted Newcastle were also linked with the player but Arsene Wenger laughed off these reports, so it looks like a return to Spain for the striker if the two clubs can meet in the middle of their valuations.
Our friends at ArseBlog have an update on the situation
For me, Perez would be good player to keep, he has never let us down, always created chances and scores goals when called upon, unlike some of our current highly paid so-called stars who I think we’d be better to offload. Perez has played 21 times for Arsenal, but only started two Premier League games, so you have to feel sorry for the lad, who must feel like this has been a year of his life wasted, the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette was the final nail in his Arsenal coffin.
We wish him well and if someone could put Theo in a Perez mask for the sale, I’d buy you a beer.
