French football paper L’Equipe are saying that we have had yet another bid turned down by Monaco for midfielder Thomas Lemar.

They claim we have made a third bid of £44m for the player despite quotes earlier in the week from Lyon’s VP saying that Lemar, and his much sought after team mate Fabinho, would not be leaving:

“We have kept all of the key players that we intended to keep, and I will address speculation relating to Lemar – he is staying with us. He is an immense talent and is essential for the team…”

Meanwhile, The Sun claim that we are ‘on the brink’ of signing Lemar, they reported the player has already agreed personal terms with us, and wants to force a move to North London.

Lemar, along with Kylian M’Bappe managed to get Monaco a coveted Champions League spot, with Lemar weighing in with 14 goals and 17 assists for the season.

Should the signing of Lemar materialise, this would take our summer signing tally to a total of three, with the free transfer of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke and striker Alexandre Lacazette who joined from Lyon earlier this month.

If we can just tie down Mesut Ozil, and Alexis Sanchez, I don’t think too many Arsenal fans would be too unhappy with what has been an exciting summer of business, especially without having the lure of the Champions League to help to bring players in.
