According to a report in The Mirror today, Bayern Munich are keen to land Alexis Sanchez this summer, and are tabling a new contract for him, thought to be worth around £300,000 a week.
The Germans are only set to offer £40m for him, which by today’s standards is way below any realistic valuation of our star player and I personally wouldn’t want him to leave at any price. We should be building our side around him, and do whatever it takes to keep hold of him. It’s thought that we have offered him slightly less to stay, but still a weekly wage of £275,000 doesn’t sound too shabby!
The paper claims that Sanchez’s agent Fernando Felicevich has already begun talks with Bayern, and Sanchez himself confirmed that his agent is ‘sorting things out’ and said yesterday on Sky Sports:
“I’m looking at what my agent is doing. For now, I’m focused on the (Confederations) Cup in Russia and trying to do well. The truth is that my agent will see to it. He knows and he will sit down with the club to look for the best option for me. I’d like a lot of things but I’m only thinking about the national team…”
Hopefully this all just means Alexis is pushing for a new deal to stay at The Emirates, and rumours of a bumper new deal to persuade him to remain are true.
