Premier League giants Manchester United have agreed a fee for Atletico Madrid and France international attacker Antoine Griezmann, according to agent Vincent Rodriguez via The Daily Star.

The Red Devils gaffer Jose Mourinho has been on the verge of landing a new attacker to replace Wayne Rooney who is ageing and could be set to depart Old Trafford this close season.

In light of that, Griezmann is high on Jose’s summer shopping list and it now seems a deal for the 26-year-old will be sealed soon, and his agent confirmed that a financial agreement between Atletico and the Red devils has been met.

Arsenal were also strongly linked with a move to sign the French ace but Wenger failed to push ahead for a deal and Griezmann remained with the La Liga giants.

The Daily Star further reported the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona were also showing interest in sign him, but it now looks the aforementioned clubs have missed out in the race of sign him, as FIFA-accredited agent Rodriguez has now confirm a deal is close to being done.

He wrote on Twitter:

“A financial agreement between Atlético Madrid and Manchester United regarding the signing of Griezmann has been met. More to break soon!!”

Last week Spanish footy ‘expert’ Guillem Balague claimed a move for the French superstar was unlikely:

“The fact that Simeone is staying will help his decision, Atleti want to reward him with an improved contract and a bigger buyout clause.”

Griezmann has featured in 46 appearances in all competition this season with Atletico and netted 25 goals which prove he will be a very good signing for United should the rumours be true.
