According to The Mirror, Arsenal are set to battle the likes of Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool for the signature of Colombian sensation, James Rodriguez.

The 25-year-old Real Madrid star who announced himself on the global stage with a virtuoso performance at the 2014 World Cup is set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu this summer as a result of lack of playing time and is a wanted man in England.

The likes of Chelsea and Manchester City are closely monitoring proceedings at the La Liga leaders but Chelsea look like the most probable destination, as the playmaker could be used as a makeweight in any deal to take Eden Hazard to Spain.

Rodriguez is enduring a torrid time in Spain at the moment as the likes of Isco, Modric, Kroos and Casemiro are all preferred to him in the pecking order and it looks like he is set for a summer move to England.

Real Madrid are looking to recoup a major part of the £65m they signed him for from Monaco, while Arsenal are looking to replace Mesut Ozil with the German looking set to leave The Emirates at the end of the current season.

Rodriguez is a classy attacking midfielder known for his incisive passing, amazing creativity and finishing ability. Since joining from AS Monaco in 2014, he has made 102 appearances for the Spanish giants, scoring 30 goals in the process and contributed greatly in the 2015-16 Champions League victory which concreted him as a club hero.
