Middlesbrough defender, Ben Gibson has reportedly become the subject of increased transfer speculation at Arsenal. The centre back has impressed for the Teesiders in what has been a difficult campaign for them back in the Premier League.
The former England youth international is wanted by a host of top clubs and it seems that Arsenal have stepped in front of the queue to sign the player.
The London Evening Standard reports that Arsenal are ready to offer ‘Boro in the region of £30m upwards to sign the player, who was watched by Arsenal scouts earlier in the season.
Arsenal are currently in some sort of defensive quagmire and need a strong presence at the back, and an old fashioned English centre back might just be the tonic the Gunners need to challenge for major honors next season.
24-year-old Gibson would be expected to provide competition for the likes of Ron Holding, Mustafi and Gabriel should he sign. He is respected across the division for his quality tacking, interception ability and leadership attributes. He has made 28 appearances for Boro this season, and helping them achieve one of the best defensive records in the league.
