With just a few weeks of the season left, we’re already looking towards rebuilding the squad in the summer transfer window. With most of our players having already been linked with a move away, there’s a few players also being linked with coming in to the club, and a report today in the Ibtimes claim Arsenal are looking at Eibar centre-back Florian Lejeune for next season.
The 25-year-old defender signed a surprise deal with Manchester City in the summer of 2015 after a brilliant term with Girona in Spain.
However, Premier League giants and our FA Cup semi-final opponents, City, sent him on loan to go gain some first team experience with Catalan outfit during the 2015-16 season before they considered selling him for a fee worth around €1.5m (£1.3m) in the last window, he’s now thought to be worth upwards of £8m.
They report that Arsene Wenger has already been given the green light to move ahead with an attempt to to sign the ace, even though his own future as Arsenal manager remains uncertain.
Although, we still have few more months to the opening of the transfer window, it looks like we could do a lot worse than Lejeune, who has featured in 24 league games this season and he has completed more interceptions than any other defender in the league.
