The report in the Daily Star confirms that Arsenal academy chief; Andries Jonker has quit his job with the North London outfit. The report coming from German paper Bild claim Jonker has agreed a long-term to become Wolfsburg new head coach, as EXCLUSIVELY* revealed by ArsenalShorts earlier this morning.
Wolfsburg Sporting Director Olaf Rebbe said after sacking Valerien Ismael:
“After weighing up all the facts and circumstances, we agreed that the separation is the right way to get the team back on the track. In the decision-making process, we were not guided primarily by the most recent result against Bremen, but rather also included the impressions and results from the last weeks and months…”
The Bundesliga side who once boasted strikers in their ranks such as Nicklas Bendtner, are currently sat 14th in the German league table, just two points off the relegation spots, so it remains to be seen whether the arrival of Jonker will boost their fortunes and whether he can stop the rot.
Fancy buying a new Arsenal shirt?
The deal has now been officially announced by both Arsenal and Wolfsburg this morning hot on the heels of the ArsenalShorts EXCLUSIVE* earlier today.
