As we get towards the business end of the season, where we get back to playing three games a week (none on a Thursday), it’s the return of the Champions League this week, with a nice, easy visit to Munich on Wednesday night. The game coming on the back of a nervy, edgy win over Hull, where a controversial goal and a late penalty saw us claim all three points.

We have played Bayern many times of late in the Champions League and always seem to do well, but not quite well enough to qualify, so let’s hope this season, the tide has turned in our favour and we can progress to the quarter finals.

Our form of late has been patchy, with a shock 2-1 home defeat to Watford, and the usual Stamford Bridge capitulation in the Premier League, both defeats not helped by the suspension of Granit Xhaka and the omission of Cazorla and Elneny. Thankfully, Granit Xhaka has now served his frankly ridiculous ban and should return to the squad along with Elneny who was back at the weekend after his African Cup of Nations exploits. Despite starting the game v Hull this weekend, it looks likely that Francis Coquelin will not start the game with Xhaka expected to take his place in the match which will be shown live on BT Sports.

Bayern have a few worries of their own, and will be without the likes of Jérôme Boateng and Arturo Vidal which has to be a bonus for us.
