Contract Latest…
With the news that Sol Campbell thinks Alexis WILL sign, Robert Pires’ opinion is that the player isn’t really worrying to much about it, and he just wants to play football.
Pires said:
“I asked Alexis last week about his renewal. He told me that he didn’t know, that he only wants to play, he doesn’t know what is going to happen, he just wants to play and enjoy it. All we want is for Alexis to remain at Arsenal. I hope he renews his contract because he is a wonderful player. Alexis is the engine of the car. I hope he stays forever…”
It’s all gone quiet on Ozil’s renewal, so we can only hope things are going quietly well behind the scenes…
Xhaka in for the High Jump…
According to a report in The Mirror, Granit Xhaka is set to be given a dressing down, as Arsene Wenger is after a showdown after a turmoilic (made it up) week, which has seen the player sent off, given a four match ban and been involved in an alleged racist incident at Heathrow Airport (which he denies).
Wenger has already had words with him about his temperament, and despite the soft nature of both red cards, we are now set to miss him for four games, not ideal when the games are coming Rooney and Bellerin (thick and fast).
Wenger in Hot Water…
Arsene Wenger himself is in trouble after being sent to the stands late on in our game against Burnley last weekend. It’s thought he could request a personal hearing with the FA to try and explain his actions.
He could receive a touchline ban of up to four matches, while some media outlets are calling for ten, with community service, custodial prison sentence and relegation, but he could also receive a stadium ban, and with visits to Chelsea and Liverpool coming up, this would certainly not be ideal.
