Manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that contract talks are ongoing between Arsenal and England international Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Chamberlain joined Arsenal five years ago, and is yet to really explode for Arsenal, and hasn’t quite fulfilled his potential since we beat the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool to his signature.

There are a few players who are on the verge of signing new contracts with Arsenal and some how may be leaving Arsenal soon, but the Gunners gaffer has given fans some assurance that he is taking steps to make sure Chamberlain signs a new deal.

French international striker Olivier Giroud is another man whose contract is expiring soon, but it seems Wenger is making Chamberlain is main priority.

“We have a lot of work to do but you are only interested in two cases (Sanchez and Ozil),” he explained as quoted by The Metro.

“We have started talking to Ox. We’ve started with Santi as well and will certainly extend with him, we will work with Giroud as well and on many players…”

Chamberlain’s performances has been hit and miss again this season, he’s scored two goals in all league appearances and he also provided a brilliant assist for Olivier Giroud to convert against Manchester United late on which won us an undeserved point at Old Trafford – this also meant Jose Mourinho was unhappy, so that was nice.
