Alexis Sanchez helped himself to an amazing hat trick at the London Stadium against West Ham on Saturday evening.
With Chelsea beating Man City in the lunchtime game, we had to respond to keep the pressure up on Chelsea who have now won eight games in a row.
Alexis also had a hand in the first goal, pouncing on a loose ball to square it for Ozil to open the scoring. He then helped himself to an astounding second half hat trick while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain capped a fine display with a great strike from long-range, which will do his confidence no end of good after some lacklustre performances recently.
Gabriel filled in for Bellerin/Debuchy/Jenks, and Le Coq partnered Xhaka in the middle, Ox and Theo on the wings, with Mesut pulling the strings and Sanchez the lone figure up top.
West Ham pulled a goal back to make it 3-1 and as it looked like the Hammers would rally, Oxlade-Chamberlain’s strike quietened things down before Alexis completed the hat trick which takes him to joint top scorer in the Premier League with Diego Costa. With Tottenham and Chelsea both winning it was vital we left with a win, and with Man United and Liverpool both dropping points from winning positions, you have to say, this was a good weekend for us.
So, it’s back to Champions League action this week with the short visit to Switzerland to face Basel, then it’s back to the Premier League at the weekend as we host Stoke City at The Emirates.
