Arsene Wenger today admitted he is set to offer Jack Wilshere a new deal to keep him at Arsenal in the new year.

Wilshere, currently on loan at AFC Bournemouth won’t be able to play at The Emirates on Sunday due to FA rules about playing against the club who loaned you, but it seems Wilshere does have a future at Arsenal after all. Read the team news here.

Jack has remained tight-lipped about Arsenal since he moved, and there were rumours of a spat with Wenger when the loan was agreed, and Wenger also admitted he’s not spoken with Wilshere since he left back in the summer.

Wenger said:

“We have to plan that (offer of a new deal) around the new year. I think it was basically in the end a big decision for him to go. He gets regular football and now on the observations I get from our people who watch him, he’s getting stronger every week…”

Ironically, Wilshere probably would have had more playing time at Arsenal if he’d have stayed with the injury to Santi Cazorla who is now sidelined and it still remains to be seen whether or not Wilshere himself sees a future for himself at the club he has been at since he was just nine years old.
