Bringing a prolific striker to The Emirates still remains manager Arsene Wenger’ main priority, after missing out on some big names during the summer transfer window.
Report flying around from Sport Witness, now claim that we tabled a bid worth €35million for Andrea Belotti this summer, an offer which was turned down immediately with Torino thought to be after around €60million for the striker. Arsene Wenger turned his attention to Lucas Perez, but it’s still thought a deal could be on the cards.
Belotti’s Italy went head to head with Germany on Monday night where he and summer signing Skhodran Mustafi came up against each other. Mustafi kept him quiet (of course) and with no Ozil to assist, the game ended in a 0-0 draw. The game marked Belotti’s 6th senior cap, has also bagged 3 goals for his country in the process.
The 22-year-old striker stats so far this season also make impressive reading, with 8 goals and 3 assists in just 10 games this season in Serie A. So far with Torino though he has netted 20 goals in 47 appearances in two seasons, so his overall stats aren’t that great, but he has bags of potential, and could only improve under the gaze of Sir Wenger.
Belotti’s stats are actually better than all of our strikers including the in-form Sanchez, and I personally think he’s worth every penny of the €60million price tag being spoken about.
However, as always with the window still shut, and with Danny Welbeck still to return, it’s yet another rumour which needs to be taken with a pinch of salt.
