Arsene Wenger announced this morning that Olivier Giroud and Aaron Ramsey will both miss the game with Swansea this weekend.
Wenger said on the return of Ramsey:
“I’m disappointed because he has worked very hard and he had a few little setbacks that forced us to be cautious with him. He’s on the last stage, he’s building up his fitness. Next week will come too early. We have decided that we will give him a complete pre-season now, even if he misses more games…”
This now means Ramsey must go on a tour of America, play against Boreham Wood and Barnet, before traveling to Iceland to play FC Bjork, and Norway to singlehandedly play against AS Danepak before Wenger will consider him fit enough to play.
The good news however is that Francis Coquelin is back in action for the game, while Carl ‘Jenksy’ Jenkinson is well on the way back, and with a scare for Bellerin this week on international duty, that can only be a good thing.
Le Boss said that Jenkinson will play again for the U23’s and after that ‘he’ll be able to compete’, which is great news for the self-confessed proper Gooner.
Swansea are somewhat of a potato skin for us, beating us at The Emirates last season on a night which could have changed the face of the title race had we won it.
They’re a team we always seem to struggle against for whatever reason, so let’s hope we can continue to build on our pre-interlull good form, come on you REDS!
