Wenger ‘Almost’ Signed Draxler…
After the quite frankly ridiculous chaos of the transfer window, the dust is settling and some actual facts are starting to appear through the Jim White induced haze.
It seems, in true Tottenham style, we ‘almost’ signed Julian Draxler from Wolfsburg after all. He submitted a transfer request to leave Wolfsburg to join Arsenal, but the German club blocked the move.
Draxler said:
“I did not get the chance to switch clubs because Wolfsburg did not allow me to leave, there will likely be more speculation in January, but I will not initiate anything…”
“We had some differences of opinion, but we have set those apart. There is no issue any more. Of course, it is not easy to forget what happened in the summer, but that is now in the past…”
Jack Stay ‘Possible’
Bournemouth chairman Jeff Mostyn claims Jack Wilshere could stay permanently at Bournemouth, moving away from his boyhood club, Arsenal.
The Bournemouth chairman said:
“I think anything is possible, the best we can do is integrate Jack into the team and help him fulfil what he wants. Whether or not we will go beyond a season, I think everything is possible. You have to be realistic and Jack may well consider his home to be back at Arsenal…”
Double Injury Boost…
Francis Coquelin could be back in 2-3 weeks after the injury he picked up against Chelsea at the weekend. Le Coq limped off after half an hour and was thought to be out for some months, so this comes as great news for the Frenchman.
Right back; Carl Jenkinson has now returned to full training. Jenks picked up his injury while at West Ham and has returned to Arsenal and will be eyeing a place as Hector Bellerin’s understudy along with Mathieu Debuchy.
Basel News…
We will face Basel tomorrow night (Wednesday) in our second Champions League game, after drawing 1-1 with PSG two weeks ago.
We will be missing Ramsey, Jenks, Gabriel, Le Coq, Mertesacker and of course Danny Welbeck through injury while Giroud is suspended after his nonsensical red card in Paris.
