Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of signing Atletico Madrid’s coach Diego Simeone as a replacement for manager Arsene Wenger. Simone has agreed to a reduction on his current contract with the La Liga giants, according to the report from Spain via The Metro.

The news outlet further reported Arsenal have been eyeing Simeone as a potential replacement for Wenger, with the Frenchman out of contract with the North London outfit at the end of this season.

The Argentine manager put to pen a deal with that will see him remain at the Vicente Calderón Stadium till 2020 but the latest report from AS via The Metro claims that Simeone has reduced his deal to down by two years to 2018.

However, the Argentine manager is apparently still on more money than the likes of Luis Enrique and Zinedine Zidane, and the report claims that both Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain have made offers for Simeone and he, himself admitted back in July that a move to the Premier League could still happen:

“I am a young coach so I feel that it is possible. There are many other leagues that would provide great challenges, but the English and Italian leagues are particularly attractive.”
