Last night’s game against PSG is still looming large and being discussed mainly thanks to Ospina’s goalkeeping masterclass, but there’s no time for rest with another Premier League test this weekend fast approaching. We play Hull away on Saturday; KO 3pm at the KC Stadium, and nothing less than a win will do as our Premier League campaign gathers momentum after our opening game defeat by Liverpool.
We still find ourselves off of the pace set by Man City, and despite Chelsea and United both dropping points, our stuttering start means, we need to bring back all three points this weekend to keep the pressure on.
It looks like our new boys; Perez and Mustafi continue to bed in, and it looks like they’ll both feature in the game on Saturday, Perez started in the 2-1 win against Southampton on Saturday but looked a bit rusty as he gets used to playing at his new club, but surely with a record like his, the goals will come soon, hopefully this weekend.
On the other hand, centre back Mustafi looks like he’s always played for Arsenal, and has slotted right in. He also started in the 2-1 win against Southampton and played all of our 1-1 draw last night and looks perfectly at home alongside Koscielny in the heart of the defence.
There is no doubt there will soon be increased competition for a centre back berth, with the news that Gabriel is back in training. Per Mertesacker, like Danny Welbeck in a long term injury worry, but the news that Gabriel is back, means we have the chance to rest players in that position should the requirement arise.
This will prevent playing the same players in all competitions/ overplaying players and rushing them back too early from injuries, which can only be a good thing as the season wears on.
