How Arsenal could line up with Perez and Mustafi against Watford – medicals to be completed today – report

Finally, it looks like Arsene Wenger has bought the players we needed for this season. Perhaps two weeks too late, but it’s finally getting done, and even the harshest of Wenger’s critics would be unhappy with the business he’s eventually done.

Many WOB’s will be saying it’s all too late, and we’re 5 points from the top already, but you can’t argue the holes which needed filling ,have finally been filled. Xhaka in the DM position, with Holding and Mustafi in the CB slot, and the acquisition of Lucas Perez to bolster the striker ranks with Olivier Giroud can only be seen as a bold and positive move. We have also signed two for the future in Nwakali and Asano, the latter having been loaned this morning to Stuttgart.

A report from the BBC confirms German international defender Shkodran Mustafi and highly-rated striker Lucas Perez will undergo medicals at Arsenal today (Friday) and if they can get the paper work over the line, they could even be included in the squad to play Watford tomorrow afternoon.

Wenger confirmed this morning it’s 99% done, and the BBC report we have reached a deal with Valencia for Mustafi, and in the case of Lucas Perez, Arsenal are thought to have triggered his £17.1m release clause.

There were rumours that we turned down a move for Perez last week, which given the other 109 strikers we’ve been chasing, could be likely, but with all the rumours, smokescreens and other transfer window cliché’s it looks like Le Boss will finally land his targets.

Mustafi will line-up with Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin and Laurent Koscielny at the back, while Perez would hope to be slotted straight in to spearhead the attack, with Olivier Giroud dropped to the bench.

Alex Iwobi and Aaron Ramsey will be missing now until after the international break, while Danny Welbeck and Per Mertesacker remain our long/long term absentees, Gabriel shoud only be a few more weeks away.
