Transfer Window Latest…

Not sure if you’ve heard, but we need a centre back and a striker. Everyone knows it, and this seems to be part of the problem.

Our main target over the past weeks and months seem to be Valencia’s German centre back Shkodran Mustafi who Le Boss was after to replace Per and Gabriel, who were both injured in pre-season.

As the saga rumbles on, Wenger confirmed last week that he was a potential target, ‘one of many’ he said, but last night, Valencia’s head coach Pako Ayestaran said:

“Mustafi is not for sale and he will stay at Valencia…”

Sounds pretty final to me.

In some cruel twist of events, it appears that Jonny Evans from West Brom is another target, and there were suggestions that The Baggies were demanding £25m for his signature. Bearing in mind Ashley Williams went for £16m, you can see things are getting mighty out of hand this summer.

Anyway, that has also been denied this morning and West Brom have said he is also staying, meaning another blow to Sir Wenger’s rapidly disappearing list of centre back targets.

Strikers however, is a totally diff— oh, no it’s the same. With everyone from Icardi to Vardy to Mahrez to Lacazette, to pretty much everyone we’ve been linked with. They’ve all got nice pay rises out of our supposed interest and are all staying with their clubs.

The Daily Mirror claim we could be after Monaco defender Marcel Tisserand and Bayer Leverkusen’s Turk; Omer Toprak has also been mentioned, but no one seems to know for sure what Arsene Wenger has up his sleeve.

So, as these rumours come and go, the end of the transfer window is rapidly approaching, with still no signings of note since Xhaka and Holding…

Tick tock, Zzzz.
