The ArsenalShorts Depressing Wednesday Morning Round Up

Still nothing new on the Mustafi transfer apart from a very flaky article in a Spanish newspaper which claims the deal is done, and all that is left is the announcement.

This deal is one which should have been done before Gabriel got injured, before Mertesacker got injured, and in terms of priority, even before we were in for Jamie Vardy back in June. It’s dragged on and on, but hopefully we can finally get it over the line. Then, we’ll no doubt have to wait another two weeks for him to play as he’ll ‘not be ready’.

Which then means we’ll play Champions Leicester with the same defence who shipped four against Liverpool on Sunday.

Give me strength Joanna, oh wait, that was hope. Anyway…

Rambo Out…
Ah more great news, Aaron Ramsey will be out for a month after picking up an injury against Liverpool. The Welshman pulled a muscle and will be out for around four weeks.

Alex Iwobi was also injured, and joins Per Mertesacker, Gabriel, Danny Welbeck in the sick bay. Also, leaving Arsenal over the summer was Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini.

Even with the acquistion of Grant Xhaka and Rob Holding for the first team, this leaves us about six players shorter than we were last season with just two weeks left of the transfer window (if you take ‘short’ term injuries; Iwobi, Rambo and Gabriel out, that’s still 3 short until Xmas, then 1 short once Welbz and Per come back, so you know where our transfers are going – one in (Mustafi) and we’re back to full quota, just with half our players seriously injured).

Hertha Powers on in Serge Chase…

After some Olympian size performances in Rio, Serge Gnabry has attracted many plaudits with six goals for Germany, who face Nigeria in the semi-final of the football (obviously).

One such plaudit, is Hertha Berlin manager Pal Dardai, who said, very German-like: “He meets our search parameters…”

More transfer nonsense later, reader(s)…
