Arsenal preparing cash plus Giroud offer for 16 goal hitman, agent held talks with Wenger
According to a rather far-fetched report from La Gazzetta dello Sport via footballfancast, we are still very interested in signing Argentinian striker Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan and are apparently readying an offer of £29.7m plus Olivier Giroud as a makeweight to sign the striker.
The 23-year-old ace has been rumoured to be the Gunners main target in recent weeks, and it was also reported that the Argentine international’s agent and wife, Wanda Nara, has already held talks with Arsene Wenger over a possible move to the Emirates.
After no deal was reached, and possibly as a reaction to the news that another target Alexandre Lacazette is now injured, the news outlet claims the North London are willing to make a late offer for the Argentine international.
Arsenal are said to be facing stiff competition from Napoli to sign Icardi and they are apparently willing to offer €60m (£50.9m) for the highly-rated striker, while Arsenal are reported willing to offer Olivier Giroud plus €35m (£29.7m) cash.
Icardi is one of the prolific strikers in Europe and scored 16 goals in just 33 appearances for the Serie A giant last season. This deal is definitely unlikely given we are already short up front, I can’t see Arsene Wenger simply swapping Giroud for another striker especially with Danny Welbeck injured, and Theo Walcott, despite a decent performance against Man City at the weekend, still to find his form.
