Sky Sport pundit confirms Draxler wants to join Arsenal – this will delight fans

We are less then a fortnight away from the big Sky Premier League kick-off bonanza, and the daily Twitter frenzies continue to be fuelled by a new player being linked to Arsenal every day.

Yesterday was no different, and a new(ish) name was the catalyst for the 9 o’clock nightly frenzy-off, with German Sky Sports pundit Kaveh Solhekol claiming that Germany and Wolfsburg striker Julian Draxler wants to join Arsenal and has told the Bundesliga giants he wants to leave the club this summer.

Arsenal’s French manager Arsene Wenger has long been an admirer of Draxler, and the German was linked to a move to The Emirates when he was with Schalke 04 but the move never happened and the player eventually joined Wolfsburg.

The Daily Mail reckons that Bild published an interview with the German international, who claimed he told the Bundesliga club that he want to join a ‘top international club’ (that’s Spurs out) and it’s also rumoured there are two clubs interested, with one yet to make an offer.

The attacker told Bild via Daily Mail:

“I have expressed myself clearly after the Euros, with Dieter Hecking, that I want to leave Wolfsburg. The coach knows for more than three weeks Two days after the semi-final at the European Championships I told him how I see the whole situation and what I want – which is to leave the club. I was verbally assured with my transfer in August 2015 that I can leave the club when given opportunities, both from Hecking, as well as Allofs. It was always clear between all parties that I would like to go to a top international club if the opportunity arises. It was discussed that we speak rationally with one another, if other clubs show interest…”

Though, Draxler never mentioned a specific club, Juventus and Arsenal are both being constantly linked with the player and another report in The Mirror claims we are in the driving seat and most likely to seal the deal, despite the Serie A club showing a keen interest.

The Sky pundit took to social media to Tweet that Draxler wants to join Arsenal.

Our priority has to be a centre back to replace the injured Mertesacker, but Draxler, and an attacker to join forces with Olivier Giroud would be a very close second, and a purchase of a big name like Draxler, would surely delight most Arsenal fans including me.
