Lyon president gives official statement on Lacazette move to Arsenal
The chances of Arsenal signing a striker in this window are looking increasingly unlikely, the Gunners having missed out on at least two strikers so far, that we actually know about.
We had a bid turned down for Lyon’s Alexandre Lacazette, plus Jamie Vardy decided to snub our offer and remain at Leicester after the European Championships, while Real Madrid have decided against selling their Spanish international striker, Alvaro Morata, as he decided to settle down and remain in Madrid, and it looks like we are quickly running out of options as the season fast approaches.
It’s now been confirmed, we had bid around £34m for Lacazette a few weeks ago, before a rumoured £40m was also turned down from West Ham. It’s rumoured that we are to make a second bid but the Lyon club president has said he doesn’t think there will be any more bids from Arsenal and that no one looks set to leave Lyon tihs summer.
The president told L’Equipe via Sabotagetimes that:
“Arsenal have not come back… and they will not come back, no one will leave OL, except for Rachid Ghezzal if he has an offer, which I doubt…”
Despite playing in a very defensive league, Lacazette is known to be one of the most prolific strikers in Europe, after netting 21 goals in just 34 appearances for the Ligue 1 giants last season.
