Arsenal keen on signing defender, agent approached in last few hours
The injury to Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker, has apparently forced Wenger into the transfer market, despite the signing of Rob Holding already this week from Bolton.
With Mertesacker now confirmed to be out for ‘a few months’ by Wenger, the Gunners French manager has admitted he’s looking for an experienced defender, and it thought that he wants to sign Skhodran Mustafi to fill the BFG shaped void at the heart of his defence.
It was rumoured this week that Arsenal have already contacted Valencia over a possible transfer for Mustafi and we want to finalise a deal for the German International defender reports Valencia Extra. It’s also thought that Valencia needs to offload some players to avoid FFP penalties after selling their star player Andre Gomes to La Liga champions Barcelona.
The La Liga giants want around €25m for the defender, but it is thought Arsenal are yet to make a formal offer, Sky Germany however report that a deal is close and the two clubs are talking.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the transfer season is well and truly underway!
