Mesut Ozil has expressed his delight about Arsenal’s latest signing, Lucas Torreira. The arrival of the Uruguayan international has brought joy to all Arsenal fans and players alike and the German did not hide his delight when he took to Twitter to show support for his new team mate.

This summer has been a busy one for Arsenal, especially with the arrival of new Manager, Unai Emery who has already bought in five new players to kick start his rebuilding process. Swiss player Stephan Lichsteinener was the first to arrive, then keeper Bernd Leno, Defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos before the Lucas Torreira deal went through which was followed immediately by another youngster Matteo Guendouzi from French side Lorient.

The talk of Torreira joining Arsenal had been going on before the start of the World Cup with many anticipating the announcement of the deal and now that it has been done, fans can’t wait to see him make his debut in the red and white of Arsenal.

World Cup winner Ozil was quick to take to social media to join millions of Arsenal fans to express his delight about the new signing when he tweeted:

Torreira is expected to join Arsenal to help solve the defensive midfield problem the squad has been facing over the last few seasons. His outstanding World Cup outing with Uruguay has drawn a lot of attention and many will be hoping this will help to kick start his Premier League career.

Arsenal start their Premier League campaign against defending champions, Manchester City and then play Chelsea away after that. This is a baptism of fire and a great chance for both Unai Emery and his new signings to show that they are ready for the challenge that lies ahead.
