There have been exciting transfers over recent years, but there could be another shock transfer in the offing if the Spanish sports newspaper Don Balon are to be believed. They claim there is a strong link between Arsenal and Croatian midfielder Luka Modric, once of Tottenham Hotspur and that the player could move back to England.

It’s being reported that Modric is eyeing a move back to the Premier League and Arsenal are seemingly his preferred option and that under-fire Manager Arsene Wenger is already on alert should the player want a move.

Real Madrid could be tempted to sell Modric as the current La Liga champions have not had a great season in the league so far and Modric has been far from impressive.

Modric who joined Madrid from two-time league title winning Spurs in 2012, had a torrid start to life in Spain as he did not fit perfectly to the Madrid team or style of play but has since turned things around to become a key player in the Los Blancos midfield system.

The report says that Milan are also said to be interested in the player but it will be a great buy for Arsenal if they can make it happen and he would be the perfect replacement for Santi Carzola who is struggling to get fit again after his well-documented injury problems.
