Tottenham ran out 1-0 winners in their most important game of the season, dubbed their ‘cup final’ after a solitary Harry Kane goal gave them victory at Wembley on Saturday lunchtime.

The defeat now means we are way off the pace for top four, and after the rest of the weekend’s results, we find ourselves in 6th place and sliding down the table.

Manchester United where the only top side to drop points, Liverpool and Man City both winning, while Chelsea play West Brom at home this evening.

After a goalless first half, Kane jumped highest above two Arsenal defenders to power the ball home past Cech, but the game was pretty even up until then, Arsenal defending well. Spurs had the lions share of the chances, but Cech played well to keep the score down.

Alexandre Lacazette could have equalised at the death, 4 minutes into injury time, but the angle past Lloris wasn’t kind for the former Lyon man, who saw the ball creep agonisingly past the Spurs post as the whistle blew for full time.

Somehow we are still just eleven points from second place with just eleven games to go, but the form we are in, it seems the sensible thing to do would be to concentrate on winning the Europa League and getting a Mourinho back door into the competition this time round.

Not the best of Saturdays, but these things happen, North London remains red.
