Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Mesut Ozil is short of fitness and won’t be available to face Brighton at The Emirates this Sunday.

Ozil has missed our last few games with a knee problem and won’t play for Germany in the upcoming interlull. He did come on as a sub on Monday against West Brom for ten minutes but Arsene Wenger confirmed on the Arsenal website that he’ll not be ready for our Sunday lunchtime kick off:

“Ozil will not be available for Sunday, very short-term. He is not far, but he is not enough for Sunday…”

Hopefully after almost a week off Alexis Sanchez should be back to full fitness as the controversy over his future fizzles out for now.

Wenger also said that Iwobi could be back but Coquelin, Welbeck and of course Santi Cazorla will all miss the game, the Spaniard apparently working hard to get back to playing again in the new year.

The only other doubt is Laurent Koscielny who will have a fitness test to check on his ongoing ankle problem and Le Boss also admitted that Kolasinac has a few problems, but will be ok for the Brighton game.
