It’s widely believed that manager Arsene Wenger is interested in buying more attack minded players this season and is now being linked with Benfica attacker Gonçalo Guedes.

A report on Friday’s Sport Witness says that Benfica club’s president Luis Filipe Vieira is currently in London to negotiate a deal with the ace’s agent Jorge Mendes.

The news outlet further reported that Arsenal have now ‘gained strength’  in their pursuit for ace who might serve as a replacement for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain who is rumoured to be interesting Manchester City.

It’s thought that the likes of Manchester United, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco are also showing a keen interest in landing Guedes, but Arsenal look to be in the driving seat.

Guedes has a release clause worth €60 million (£51.9m) on his current contract with Benfica which sounds like a bit too expensive for Arsenal in this window, so it’s yet to be seen if the French manager will complete a deal for the ace.

However, do you personally believe the discussions between the Benfica’s president and Wenger are really ongoing?

Match report: Arsenal 2-1 Burnley. Good boys.
