Arsenal legend Ian Wright has openly said that he would have played Aaron Ramsey ahead of Alex Iwobi in the 1-1 clash against Tottenham Hotspur in Sunday’s north London derby, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Since the opening match of the season, Iwobi has held down a regular position in manager Arsene Wenger’s first team despite the experience of the likes of Mohamed Naser Elsayed also known as Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey, who has been missing for most of the campaign through injury.

Iwobi has been in top form so far this season helping Arsenal to third place in the Premier League and provided three assists in eight Premier League games. However, his performance against Spurs was not quite as good, but he finished with a pass completion of 78 per cent before his second-half substitution.

We were forced to share the points with arch-rivals, and the two time League winners after England ‘international’ and Arsenal fan Harry Kane, who badly let his country down in the European Championships, netted the Spurs goal, a tap in from 12 yards.

Legend Ian Wright was interviewed by BBC Radio Five Live’s 606 show:

“I thought Alex Iwobi might have been better as a substitute, Aaron Ramsey has a bit more experience. He [Iwobi] was a bit disappointing. I felt for him. He was nervous. A couple of his passes were knocked out of play. It might have been a better one for him to come off the bench and have an impact.”

However, I personally think playing Ramsey would have made little or no difference as when he came on his impact was very poor, and played no better than Iwobi, interesting to see who Arsene Wenger plays now Aaron Ramsey is back from injury.
