Since the departure of Robin van Persie, Arsenal have struggled to replace him with another prolific front man, however, French international striker Olivier Giroud has been doing a great job when given the chance, but this season he’s been struggling with his phantom toe injury. In the summer, Arsene Wenger completed the signature of Lucas Perez ahead of the new season, but Alexis Sanchez has been a revelation since he was moved to the centre of attack, meaning both Perez and Giroud have had limited chances to impress.

The latest report flying round the media today, claims that Wenger’s main target in the summer WAS highly-rated striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Dortmund turned down a huge, concrete bid from Arsene Wenger.

The report from IamNaples via Radio CRC claim that Italian agent Vincenzo Morabito confirmed that The Gunners French manager made an offer worth 90 million euros (£80m) to sign the striker but Dortmund refused to discuss any deal.

Aubameyang, 27, is one of the prolific strikers in Europe today, last season he made 49 appearances and scored 39 goals and also provided 12 assists and so far this season he has also hit the back of the net 14 times with 3 assists in just 14 games for Dortmund.
