No Song for Europe...
Arsenal have been dealt a massive blow ahead of their second leg UEFA Champions League quarter final match against FC Barcelona with the news that influential midfielder Alexandre Song has been ruled out of the tie.
There had been much speculation in recent days whether manager Arsene Wenger would deploy the Cameroon international in his normal holding midfield role, or revert him to centre back in the absence of William Gallas.
However, the Gunners will now have to do without Song, who has been ruled out with a groin problem. With Gallas, Andrei Arshavin and Cesc Fabregas already ruled out of the tie, Arsenal will have to reshuffle their pack as they attempt to contend with the might of Barcelona.
Sol Campbell is almost certain to come in to partner Thomas Vermaelen at the heart of the Gunners defense, either side of Barcary Sagna and Gael Clichy. A midfield duo of Denilson and Abou Diaby seems to be the only real option available to Arsene, with Samir Nasri likely to be deployed in the "Fabregas role" - a position he thrived in during last months 5-0 demolition of Porto at the Emirates.
